SEGA Forever FAQ: Hot Topics!

Here, you will find all manner of hot topics and useful information about our SEGA Forever games.
Do you have a burning question? Well, good person of The Internet, it might well be listed below!

What is SEGA Forever?
SEGA Forever is ever-expanding catalog of classic SEGA titles, that you can play for free (with ads). We’ll be releasing SEGA games from SEGA’s first console, the SG-1000, all the way up to the Dreamcast era.

Wow, great! Can I make suggestions for games I’d like to see as part of SEGA Forever?
Please do! We welcome suggestions via our Facebook page. Please bear in mind that many of the most requested games aren’t actually SEGA games, so we may not be able to release them any time soon. For example, franchises like Road Rash, Mortal Kombat, and Power Stone were not developed by SEGA, so we don’t have the license to release these. Games using copyrighted material like The Lion King, Jurassic Park, and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker are also not likely to appear as part of SEGA Forever in the near future.

Marble Zone

I’m not really keen on mobile. When is SEGA Forever coming to other platforms like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam?
Our priority is mobile first. While other platforms could be viable for SEGA Forever down the line, for the moment we are focusing on iOS and Android mobile platforms. Not everyone in the world has the budget or time to use a home gaming system, but almost everyone these days carries a smartphone. The ad-based “freemium” model we’re using means that anyone can play any SEGA Forever title without paying any money.

I paid for this game before! Will I see ads when I update/reinstall the game?
Fret not! If you have previously purchased one of our titles such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Virtua Tennis Challenge, or Phantasy Star II, you will be able to restore your purchase when you first launch the game, as well as from the main menu or settings screen. You may be required to sign into the App Store or Google Play to verify these purchases.

The audio/video in the SEGA Forever launch titles occasionally stutters… what’s going on?
We’re aware there are some issues with a few of our launch titles. We are currently rebuilding our emulator core, and these titles will be updated in the coming months to improve emulation across all devices. Our first wave of updates has already fixed many of these issues, but we will continue to support all SEGA Forever titles indefinitely to ensure a smooth playing experience.

Can I play SEGA Forever games offline?
All SEGA Forever titles are playable offline if you buy the in-app purchase ($1.99 or equivalent in your region) in each title. All our emulated titles can be played offline for free, but you can only save and load by watching an ad, which you’ll need to be online for. Titles that are ports, like Sonic The Hedgehog, require you to be online to play the game for free.

Labyrinth Zone

Do SEGA Forever games support multiplayer?
At the moment, our emulated titles don’t support multiplayer, but this functionality will be added later this year. Please stay tuned!

Do SEGA Forever games support my Bluetooth controller?
All SEGA Forever titles come with Bluetooth support, and the majority of the most popular controllers are compatible. If your controller isn’t supported, please visit our support page and tell us, and we’ll do our best to add support for your device in the near future.

Star Light Zone

I’d like to change the way the virtual controller is set out. Can I do that?
We will soon be adding fully customizable layouts for controllers, button remapping, and a 6-button controller option.

How about graphical options?
We are in the middle of rolling out graphical filter options in our emulated SEGA Forever titles. Hold on!

Scrap Brain Zone

When will you be adding Windows Phone/Amazon App Store/tvOS/Android TV support?
We do not have plans to support these platforms at this time.

I don’t see my question here! How can I contact you?
If you are having a technical issue, please visit our support site. For any suggestions you might have, please let us know via Facebook!
