Hardlight supports SpecialEffect charity
Chocolate and peanut butter. Milk and cookies. Sonic & Knuckles. We love indulging in life’s perfect combinations, and SEGA Team recently re-visited one of our all-time favorites; playing video games and helping people.
Members of Hardlight and SEGA of Europe recently participated in Gameblast’s 24-hour stream benefiting SpecialEffect, a non-profit charity that builds and supplies equipment for gamers with physical disabilities throughout the UK. SEGA Team brought in the fifth-largest sum during the event, inspiring viewers to donate more than £1,000 in total donations.
“SEGA has been regularly working with and raising money for SpecialEffect since before I joined the company,” said Hardlight’s Joel Atkinson, a designer currently working on an unannounced project.
“SEGA has a wide reach to a lot of fans – It feels to me like it’s our responsibility to use that reach for something good..”When asked for the audience’s favorites, Joel recalled strong receptions of SEGA Bass Fishing, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and the Mega Drive Collection. And as for him? “Revisiting Panzer Dragoon ORTA in the middle of the night was an absolute treat. I forgot how much I love that game.”
